The NPS website shares the following information about what you’ll find:

The geologic formations at Badlands are created from two processes: deposition (the process of rocks building up over time), and erosion (the process of rocks wearing down). As a result, the layered ridges and canyons at Badlands National Park have stunning and unique features.

Unleash your curiosity and sense of exploration! As long as you stay mindful of the park’s guidelines and take appropriate safety precautions, Badlands National Park is yours for the exploring. Hike and climb around on the iconic formations during the day and kick back in your lawn chairs under the stars for amazing night sky viewing.
