According to the Pagosa Springs travel website, “Pagosa Springs, Colorado stretches along US Highway 160 with a distinct downtown to the east, and to the west lies what locals call, “Uptown.”
Waterfalls
Treasure Falls
This 100′ waterfall can be seen from Highway 160. There are rumors that a chest of gold is buried somewhere near the falls. According to the website, “a group of Frenchmen was rumored to have been pursued by a band of Spaniards or Native Americans. Just before their capture, the Frenchmen allegedly buried the chest, and it remains unfound to this day.”
This is the ideal hike for families and features benches along the wya so that kids can take a rest.
Piedra Falls
One of the most visited falls in the area, hikers can get to this waterfall in just 15 minutes. It’s the perfect hike for families with kids.
Fourmile Falls
This moderate hike takes you to a double waterfall north of Pagosa Springs. You get stunning views of Eagle Mountain and Pagosa Peake. There is a 3 mile hike to the falls with a significant amount of uphill hiking. It’s probably night the best hike for families with kids.
Silver Falls
This stunning waterfall is located off Highway 180 up East Fork Road. It is east of downtown Pagosa Springs.
