Archery

Whether archery is something you’re new to and are looking to try or it’s a long-term hobby, you’ll love the archery range at Cheyenne. It is accessed off of Highway 115 at Pine Oaks Road, directly across from Fort Carson Gate #5. All vehicles must have a valid parks pass, and sel​f-serve day passes are available on site. The target range features a covered shooting line with targets between 10 and 80 yards. Individual permits are available on site for $3/day, or you may purchase an annual permit at the Visitor Center for $30. For further details, please call the visitor center at 719-576-2016.

Biking

19 of the parks trails and 23.5 miles are permitted for bike use. Sundance is a popular family friendly trail, while the Medicine Wheel is a favorite of advanced riders seeking single track style trails. The popular Dixon Trail is open to bikers for the first 2.5 miles. Once you hit 2.5 miles you’ll find a rock bend to rest on and enjoy beautiful views you’ll want to capture on camera.

Hiking

This state park offers short-grass prairies, Gambel Oak woodlands, and ponderosa pine and Douglas fir forests. With over 27 miles of hiking trails and 21 various trails to choose from, this park has something for new and experienced hikers alike. Then Dixon trail system winds 17+ miles round trip to the top of Cheyenne Mountain. It’s a favorite of advanced hikers seeking beautiful photo opportunities.

Dogs are not allowed on trails, but some trails allow horses. Smoking is not allowed due to the ecosystems fragility.
